• Umlautize every character
• Don’t add umlauts to characters that already have an umlaut

Notes:

Umlauts may not appear correctly when using some monospace fonts, such as Courier New.

If you enable multiple umlauts per character, any extra umlauts will likely not be visible in the textarea. They are there though, and will show up if you copy and paste the text into a unicode text editor.

You need javascript enabled and your browser / OS must support unicode. So this might not work if you have a very old computer.
